Inclusive Spaces - Rethinking disability and built space

This talk from Jos Boys, Raquel Mesquer and Natasha Trotman explores how engaging with disability at the intersections can be both a creative design generator, and a key means to challenge and change what is ‘normal’ in the design of the built environment - and widespread assumptions that ‘disability’ is unable to bring any kind of creativity to the design of human spaces.

The talk formed part of the Bartlett School of Architecture’s Inclusive Spaces event series, exploring equity, diversity and inclusion in the built environment. In each event, the Bartlett team delve into the latest ideas and research from the schools leading thinkers in the built environment field and explore ideas of disability, race, gender, LGBTQ+ and many other dimensions of diversity and discover how they intersect with built environments around the world.
