Heatherwick Studio ‘walk and talk’ video now live!
Since 2019 The DisOrdinary Architecture Project has been working on several projects with Heatherwick Studio in London. Collaborating closely with architects Philip Hall-Patch and Jose Cadilhe, activities have included a disabled artist led talks series, informal ‘projects in progress’ engagement workshops, consultancy on an inclusive design strategy and – most recently – two experiential workshops.
The first of these workshop was a ‘walk and talk’ session around Heatherwick’s recent project: Coal Drops Yard - led by disabled artists Mandy Redvers-Rowe, Nina Thomas and Jessica Ryan-Ndegwa - to discuss how different people experience the space. The second of these workshop - led by Mandy Redvers-Rowe and blind architectural assistant Poppy Levison at the British Library - explored how we think about space and aesthetics beyond the visual.
To ensure the in-person conversations could be shared more widely throughout the practice, we commissioned filmmaker Tom Copsey to make a video of the workshops. His film was launched at the Studio in June this year, and is now available for public viewing.
