Creatures from the Queercrip Lagoon
Type: Event
Year: 2024
Location: London
DisOrdinary Architecture Contributors: Scarlett Barclay and Jos Boys
'Creatures from the Queercrip Lagoon' was a costumed symposium for London Festival of Architecture 2024 by DisOrdinary and Take Up Space. It formed part of Central Saint Martins' Queer School of Thought and featured a work-in-progress showing of 'Invitations from the Queercrip Universe.' This film and event served as a starting point for DisOrdinary's work towards neuroqueer and queercrip projects.
The film features interviews with Jos Boys, Martha Summers, James Barclay and Ben Alderson-Day, with an interview with Jordan Whitewood-Neal to be added. It attempts to make space for discussions on how to engage and invite people into projects at these intersections, whilst forming a living archive of practice where interviewees can be shown to align and misalign in their approach. The hope is this forms a starting point of an ongoing project which offers a platform for more viewpoints.
